The Mathoura Fishing Classic is an annual event, usually held on the first weekend in March, at Tarragon Lodge, Picnic Point, Mathoura, on one of the best stretches of the Murray River.
Competition Times for 2020 are Saturday 29th February - 7am to 5.30pm; Sunday 1st March - 7am to 10.30am; Sunday 1st March - Presentation from 12:30pm.
Just a short drive north of Moama, this superb location allows all entrants to camp in close proximity to the main area, either in Murraybank and Picnic Point Caravan Parks, Willow Bend Cabins or in the Forest. Each providing easy access for meals, fishing results and entertainment. Families and children are specifically encouraged and catered for.
There is a fantastic major prize up for grabs each year, and all you have to do is simply enter the competition and catch a legal size native fish for your chance to win! There are also heaps of terrific prizes available in the different fish categories.
The purpose of the Mathoura Fishing Classic is to raise funds to re-stock the rivers with native fish, while also providing entrants with the opportunity to experience a great family event in a fantastic location. In excess of 165,000 fish have already been released as a result of the Classic.
