Details

  • Friday 27th September - Saturday 28th September
  • 10:00am pm - 2:00pm
  • At Alton Gallery 111 Hare St, Echuca VIC 3564, Australia

Echuca Moama Artists present, “Paintings with Haiku” in the Alton gallery during the months of August and September.

This exhibition, by the students of Margaret Glasson, has been inspired by Japanese Haiku poetry, in which each poem has 17 syllables, in lines of 5, 7, and 5, traditionally evoking images from the natural world. They do not rhyme.

All the paintings in the Exhibition are accompanied by a Haiku verse, rather than a title. Some of the artists follow the tradition of images from the natural world, and others have interpreted the concept more freely, writing their own verse, and departing from natural imagery.

Approximately 50 works will be on show.

The exhibition opens on August 2nd, and continues until September 28th.

Gallery hours are Fridays 10am - 2.30 pm, Saturdays 10am- 1pm, or by Appointment.

Entry is free
