Echuca Historical Society Museum new exhibition: “Two men in a Boat” – an exhibition of stereograph photos of Murray River Scenes taken in 1862 will be on display from Friday 6th January to Tuesday 28th February.
Two photographers visiting Echuca from the Victorian Goldfields exchanged their wagon for a boat of river red gum of planks and rowed from Echuca to Goolwa in 1862. Taking photos of many of the properties along the way. They spent four months on the river and rowed 1700 km. One of the photographers was Edward W Cole who founded Cole’s Book Arcade in Melbourne and his colleague George Burnell was a photographer.
The Exhibition is open daily from 10am to 2pm at Echuca Historical Society Museum, 1 Dickson Street, Echuca.
