Port of Echuca Discovery Centre

Step back in time at the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre. Trace the history of the riverboat trade and shipbuilding industry, take a guided tour, view the interactive displays and working steam exhibits, walk along the historic wharf and watch the paddlesteamers cruise by, enjoy the historic children’s games and much more. National Holden Motor Museum

Start your engines! The National Holden Motor Museum in Echuca showcases Australia’s largest collection of Holden cars. The ever-changing display includes original and restored cars, unique prototypes, historic film footage, photographic exhibitions and Holden and Holden Dealer memorabilia. Be sure to visit the gift shop and pick up a souvenir.

 

The Great Aussie Beer Shed & Heritage Museum

This attraction will put any tin can wall to shame! Featuring over 17,000 beer cans from around the world, the Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Museum also displays iconic Aussie products, brand memorabilia, and heritage items including an 1890 Dabb and Co Royal Mail coach, 1920s milk and butcher carts, and an 1895 station buggy.

Echuca Historical Society Museum

Located in the heritage listed 1869 Echuca police station and lock up, the Echuca Historical Society Museum tells the stories of the region, with a strong focus on early European settlement. View the exhibits before taking a self-guided heritage tour around the surrounding streets, or follow the poetry trail and hear poems inspired by the region’s heritage, atmosphere and natural environment.

 

Billabong Ranch

Billabong Ranch provides both indoor and outdoor fun for the family. The Indoor Play Centre incorporates a mini golf course, bouldering wall, and archery room. Outside you can take a pony or camel ride, join a trail ride along the river, ride the pedal boats, bounce on the bungee trampolines and much more.

 

TwistED Science

Scale the augmented reality climbing wall, eat a bug for breakfast, test your reaction speed, make and launch fantastic flying machines, and enjoy the many other interactive exhibits at TwistED Science. This place offers some serious science fun and is located right next to the historic Port of Echuca.

Rochester Sports Museum

Take a nostalgic journey through Australia’s sporting history at the Rochester Sports Museum. Take in the 4,000 exhibits, including Adam Gilchrist’s wicket-keeping gloves, one of Greg Norman’s iconic hats and a tennis dress worn by Martina Navratilova. With regular exhibitions visiting the museum, there is always something new to see and discover.

Sharps Movie House & Penny Arcade

Before there were gaming consoles and tablets, kids would get their kicks at the penny arcades. Visit Australia’s only working penny arcade, Sharps Movie House & Penny Arcade, in the Port of Echuca and see what fun in the early 1900s was all about. While you’re there, make sure you taste the premium hand-made fudge and the creamiest Echuca-made ice cream using locally sourced milk. Delicious! 

 

Art Galleries

Stay cool and get cultured at one of the many art galleries in the Echuca Moama region. The Alton Gallery in Echuca hosts exhibitions, workshops, classes and social painting. Glenda Cornell’s Whistlestop Studio Gallery is located in the Port of Echuca and is a working studio gallery housed in a transformed heritage-listed railway station. Located in the historic 1877 pumping station building, you won’t leave the Echuca Moama Visitor Information Centre empty handed. Browse our large display of brochures on local and regional attractions – perfect for some afternoon reading by the river! – and tempt your tastebuds with the huge range of local wines and produce in our Producers Hub. You can also meet our resident blue tongue lizards and Murray River short neck turtled and try out the virtual reality goggles.
