Unique accommodation in Echuca Moama

Looking for somewhere different to lay your head when you visit Echuca Moama? Sometimes accommodation isn’t just a place to sleep. It can be a destination within a destination.

Echuca Moama has some unique and quirky accommodation options that will help to make your next stay one you will never forget.

Sleep on a Paddlesteamer

You may know that Echuca Moama is home to the largest operating paddlesteamer fleet in the world – but did you know you can sleep on one? Arguably the most recognisable boat in the fleet, the PS EmmyLou (made famous in the Australian TV series, All the Rivers Run) offers accommodated cruises ranging from two to six nights. These cruises are so popular that they regularly book out months in advance, so don’t delay if you want to experience the magic of the Murray on one of its most famous boats!

Good nights in a glamping tent

Why camp when you can glamp! Located in a natural clearing on 82 acres of bushland in the Moama on Murray Resort, Talo Retreat offers 12 luxurious glamping yurts (a Mongolian-inspired tent), each enjoying a private bushland setting with an outdoor spa, kitchenette and private bathroom off the balcony. Packed with creature comforts including heating, cooling, pillow-top mattresses and coffee machines, it is easy to forget you're in a jazzed up tent!

Sweet dreams on a station

Moira Station, located near Mathoura in NSW, offers luxurious self-contained accommodation on a 600 hectare property that sits adjacent to the Murray Valley National Park. One of the most historically significant properties in the region, Moira station was once held up by bushranger, Captain Melville, was used by Cobb and Co, and was also the site of the infamous ‘squatter vs free settler’ contest. We recommend the Starry Nights Luxury Accommodation Quarters, where a large retractable ceiling skylight allows you can fall asleep under the stars.

Count sheep at Cadell on the Murray

If you want to ‘go bush’ but don’t want to camp, then Cadell on the Murray is the next best thing! Cadell on the Murray is positioned amongst 10 acres of bushland, lawns and gardens. It has absolute river frontage, unparalleled views and all rooms are within 30 metres of the river. There are plenty of quiet spots to wet a line, go for a swim, or sit under the shade of a towering river red gum and watch the river traffic pass by. It is also an easy 10 minute walk from the beautiful St Anne’s Winery in Moama and a 5 minute drive to Morrisons Riverview Winery. Location, location, location!

Rest in a rail carriage

Located just 10 minutes drive from Echuca is The Carriages Spa Retreat accommodation, nestled among the vines of The Carriages Vineyard. Using three converted and beautifully restored antique rail carriages, guests are transported to a bygone era when rail travel reigned supreme! The fully self-contained carriages include three bedrooms, a kitchen, lounge, sitting room, bathroom, large deck and BBQ facilities. Couple this with an outdoor spa overlooking the vines and free wine tastings and this is accommodation made in adults-only heaven!

Hit the hay on a houseboat

Become a riverboat captain and hire a houseboat for the duration of your stay. See the river from a different perspective as you explore from the water, taking all your belongings (including the kitchen sink!) with you as you go. Houseboats range in berth and facilities, but all offer the creature comforts of home. Check out our preferred houseboat hires here.
