Steeped in history, Echuca-Moama's claim to fame is the Port of Echuca. The bustling Port is recognised as one of Australia's finest heritage icons and is home to the largest riverboat fleet in the world.

Originally built in the 1860s for the bustling riverboat trade before falling into disrepair, the wharf's restoration began in 1973 and was completed the following year.

In the heyday of the river trade,Echuca was Australia's largest inland port and the wharf, built in 1865, at one stage extended 1.2km. A number of paddleboats offer rides along the mighty Murray at Echuca.

Choose from the PS Pevensey, built in 1911 and known as the PS Philadelphia to viewers of the television mini-series “All The Rivers Run”,or ride on the PS Adelaide, the world's oldest wooden-hulled paddlesteamer, built in 1866. The charming PS Alexander Arbuthnot was the last boat built for the riverboat trade in 1923, and is also available for cruises.

The PS Canberra and the Pride of the Murray can be found plying the river, offering cruises complete with captain's commentary. PS Emmylou, the `prettiest paddlesteamer on the Murray River,' is the only wood-fired paddlesteamer in the world to offer regular overnight cruises.

For a taste of excellence, enjoy a meal on board the MV Mary Ann, a fully-licensed cruising restaurant. Lunch and dinner is prepared fresh on board, allowing for a relaxed and enjoyable experience.

There is much more to the Port than just the world-famous paddlesteamers. Nowhere else would you have the opportunity to witness the old-world charm of shipwrights at work, take a ride on a horse and carriage and step back in time with a visit to the underground bar and escape tunnel at the Star Hotel, which dates back to the 1890s.
