The board of EMT would like to thank all members who attended last Thursday’s meeting regarding the possible relocation of the Visitor Information Centre. It was encouraging to see so many tourism and general community members attend to listen as well as contribute to the information presented.
The meeting enabled your Board members and V.I.C. staff to present the draft of our submission to the Shire of Campaspe. More importantly it provided us additional considerations to be included in our documentation.
We believe the Shire of Campaspe councillors and CEO were provided a very clear understanding regarding the main issues if the V.I.C was relocated to the existing Library site. These issues included reduced parking (currently we have 50 vehicle parks accommodating motor homes and caravans), heavy traffic flow discouraging visitors to locate parking facilities and access the centre and removal of all bus services commuting their passengers to the proposed location. The Board of EMT are meeting with Cr.
So from here we encourage you to access the Shire of Campaspe website and research their report. Google the following heading: Shire of Campaspe – Regional Library Project for the related download documents. We also welcome you to read our working submission document by clicking here.
To strengthen our case we request that you also submit your thoughts regarding retaining the current location of the Visitor Information Centre along with suggesting a suitable location for a new Library by 29 January to info@campaspe.vic.gov.au.
For Moama businesses, Murray Shire Council Mayor, Cr. Brian Sharp encourages all to lobby their councillors prior to Tuesday’s council meeting, 19 January, where the matter will go to vote.
