RSVP Events Show
EMT/EME attended this trade show last week at the Melbourne Conference Centre.
We received many enquiries and managed to snare a conference from Laminex Industries.
We also received many enquiries regarding wedding business which whilst unusual, was an unexpected benefit.
The attendance at the show was down with all parties from all regions reporting same going into winter.
Thank you to those Members who supported this initiative.
Orchestra Victoria
Orchestra Victoria has confirmed the 3 year partnership agreement with EME (Echuca Moama Events) with planning for next year’s 3 staged concert already underway with some exciting options being discussed for the three different concert experiences for example:
1. Concert to be held at the Paramount
2. Brass instruments on board a paddle steamer
3. Outdoor open air youth concert at the Moama Sound Shell
We will keep you updated as the venture progresses.
Nature Tourism
EMT has been working with the Government groups to explore various suggestions put forward by EMT to develop nature based tourism in the region.
These efforts have met with some success and as such the Minister For Tourism together with the 4 key representatives from the Victorian and NSW Environmental agencies will be visiting at the end of the month to view firsthand the development potential along the river.
The 4 representatives will then be staying on for 3 days to participate in a special guided journey throughout the region to determine feasibility, particularly with regard to extended overnight walking trails.
We will provide more updates as the opportunity unfolds.
Official Visitors Guide
This new A4 publication is off to the printers on Friday 11th June, some 3 weeks later we will get to see it, there will be an official launch late June/early July then distribution commences.
We saw the first full colour draft yesterday and it is looking great. It is a major departure from the past however it is hoped that it will ‘’stand above the clutter’’ amongst the ever increasing competitive brochures and guides out in the market place.
Winter Television and Radio Campaign
This campaign will commence in the market in mid June and will see television advertisements across all commercial stations regionally and 3AW radio in Melbourne.
The call to action will be the EMT web site.
The campaign has received fantastic support from EMAA as they have this year partnered with EMT to ensure a stronger more cohesive effort. All members should be aware that without this type of far sighted approach from the likes of EMAA and the Clubs none of this would be possible.
Air Access Update
Met today in Canberra to gain ‘’subject to’’ approval from a regional commercial airline to provide the linking service between Mildura and Albury Wodonga. This should in turn then allow the funding from RDA to be approved which in turn then pushes the button on the long awaited air access feasibility study to be launched.
It was heartening to hear KPMG’s Bernard Salt at last week’s MBN function highlight air access as the major key to growth and prosperity within the region.
Steam Rally
The Queen’s Birthday long weekend is just 1 week away; the weekend will see the brilliant and re-worked Echuca Steam Rally being held in Echuca. A fantastic event and one that really warrants your support, so call up the friends and relatives and come and experience Steam Rally.
Postcards Australia
The Echuca Moama segment will feature on Postcards Australia this Saturday, 5th June 2010. A big thank you to all operators who were involved.
Open House Business Forum
Movers and shakers in business in Echuca-Moama are invited along to a brainstorming forum about making our twin towns more vibrant and successful over the next ten years.
How can we meet all the challenges of business but yet retain our charm as a provincial region?
No idea is too small or large!!

2011 Riverboats Jazz Food & Wine Festival
After a successful 16 years of RJFW being run by a volunteer committee, the decision has been made to license the Festival to a professional event organiser from 2011 – 2013. EME, in association with the 2010 Executive Committee, has appointed Melbourne based Full Dress Productions.
RJFW will return to Aquatic Reserve and will attract internationally recognised talent to perform in Echuca Moama. Local produce will continue to be showcased and we anticipate thousands of people to attend with the new model.
