‘’Murray Air Access Feasibility Study Given The Green Light’’
Late yesterday a meeting was held at the Murray Shire Council board room to decide if the Echuca-Moama & District Tourism (EMT) proposal for an air access feasibility was to proceed.
The meeting was attended by key officials from the Campaspe Shire, Murray Shire, Conargo Shire, Deniliquin Shire, the Victorian Department Of Innovation, Industry & Regional Development and EMT.
The group has now agreed to proceed and fund the air access feasibility study to provide
commercial air services between the existing regional hub airports of Albury-Wodonga and Mildura. The potential benefits to the central Murray regions are enormous and far ranging from the development of domestic and international tourism, business and trades development, agricultural air freight and employment opportunities across the regions. Air access will also provide a major boost to investor confidence into the future.
A new group is to be formed and named the Murray Air Access Development Group and will have a representative from each respective Shire Council and EMT.
The secretariat will be operated by the Deniliquin Shire Council.
The decision to proceed with this project is very positive news and hopefully will be a turning point in the regions development.
