Stay 3 Pay 2 Campaign

EMT is thrilled to be working with EMAA on a major winter campaign that will target metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. The campaign will be themed ‘Stay 3, Pay 2’ and it will be available for the June - July period.

The advertising campaign for this execution will commence May 13. Approximately 70% of the investment will go into Melbourne metro with the balance into regional Victoria.

Melbourne will be a mix of print media (full page advertisement in The Age) and radio will be the city’s number 1 station, Fox FM.

From a regional standpoint, we will be focussing on television where we will invest in the Shepparton and Bendigo windows.

In addition to traditional media, we will activate a social marketing campaign using our Facebook Fan Page and Twitter to compliment our investment.

The call to action for the ‘Stay 3 Pay 2’ commercials will be the toll free number and the EMT website. A button on the homepage of the EMT website will then link to a list of all the operators who are participating in this campaign.

Fruit Fly (QFF) questionnaire

Tourists / travellers to the regions are potentially a major conduit for the spread of fruit fly.
The Department of Primary Industries, as an extension of the Victorian State Government is trying to assess the impact of the 2011/12 Qld fruit fly response to outbreaks in our region (ratepayers/tourists/hort industries).

Major Food Wine and Produce Marketing Campaign

Echuca Moama Tourism’s major food and wine television commercials commenced on Monday the 18th of March into the Shepparton and Bendigo regions using stations WIN, PRIME and 7TWO.

The TVC’s will drive traffic to the Visitor Information Centre where people can collect a booklet of discounts vouchers within the region from now until the end of May.

The objective of this campaign is to ultimately:

1. Raise the profile of Echuca Moama as a leading food and wine destination
2. Showcase food, wine and produce offerings
3. Encourage repeat visitation to the area

Caravan and Camping Show

The region was promoted to a record number of 65,000 visitors at the Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne last week.

This was a joint venture with the Murray Regional Tourism Board. There was considerable demand for our region and many enquiries about the river condition.

Our region will also be promoted at the upcoming New South Wales and New Zealand caravan and camping show.

Melbourne Food & Wine Festival ‘’Cellar Door To Farm Gate’’

EMT attended Cellar Door Farm Gate on the banks of the Yarra in Melbourne on the 3rd and 4th of March. Despite the rain and wet feet, people were still keen to sample our regions wine and produce.

The Echuca Moama food and wine voucher booklets were also distributed free of charge throughout the duration of the show and we had a terrific take up of 500 booklets.

Thank you to Cape Horn and Pacdon Park who partnered up with EMT. It was a great joint effort in using the regions wine and produce assets to help market our region.

Major Food, Wine and Produce Campaign & Advertising Opportunity

Echuca Moama Tourism is concentrating on promoting local food, wine and produce over the coming months which will consist of two major executions:

1.    Cellar Door Farm Gate - EMT will be attending this consumer show in Melbourne between 3 - 4  March where we will engage with a potential 7,000 people.

We would like to offer patrons attending the show a booklet comprising promotional offers and discounts across a range of food and wine products in the Echuca Moama region. These booklets will be distributed free of charge throughout the duration of the show.

2.    We will be rolling out a major destination campaign in March that will showcase our food and wine product. This will actively target 25 - 54 audience and include television, radio and print into metro Melbourne areas.

We will be driving traffic to the Visitor Information Centre where we will advise visitors that they can collect a booklet of discounts vouchers within the region over a set period of time.

The objective of both executions is to attract visitors and ultimately;

Southern 80

The 2012 Club Marine Southern 80 is on 10 -12 February starting with ‘Breakfast with the Stars’ at the Kerribee sound shell in Moama on Friday Morning. On Saturday morning, the massive crowd will gather around the amazing boats on display in Hare st Echuca from 9.00am.

The racing action across the weekend is all at Vic Park Boat Ramp where you can watch the competitors as they complete the race.
You will also find a huge range of trade sites, entertainment for the kids and a Moto X Freestyle demonstration featuring Jackson Strong, Cam Sinclair, and Blake Williams (Bilko) which will be occurring several times each day over the weekend.

Riverboats Music Festival 2012

Amazing Race

This February prepare yourself for the Campaspe Young Professionals Network (CYPN) Amazing Race…

In light of the popularity of the Yahoo!7 “Amazing Race”, the CYPN committee have decided to hold a scaled down version of the race Sunday, February 26.

The event, likened to a scavenger hunt, will be conducted across the Echuca port area, incorporating local businesses and service groups to assist in the running of the event.

This aims to give local businesses the chance to promote themselves while contributing to the local Echuca Moama Search and Rescue Squad, a local organisation, run by volunteers and funded by community sponsorship and donations.

Each year the network aims to bring events to its members which are not only fun, but also assist with individuals’ personal and professional development.

The Network feel this will be a great way for individuals to build on personal and leadership skills, while socialising with like-minded individuals.

Major Television, Radio and Print Winter Campaign

EMT‘s major Winter Campaign that is targeting Melbourne Metro with an overlap into key regional markets in Victoria will end tomorrow.

The purpose of this campaign was to drive business to the region during the traditionally quieter months.

The campaign included a ‘Stay 3, pay 2’ offering which commenced in the market early July and saw television advertisements across commercial stations regionally, 3AW radio in Melbourne and half page advertisements in the Bendigo Advertiser to create traffic in weekend and short getaway markets.

Thank you to all our 26 accommodation operators who participated in this joint effort.
We will share the results of this campaign in the next edition.

Cellar Door Farm Gate

The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is the premier food, wine and produce event in Australia.

The ‘’Cellar Door & Farm Gate’’ event is a component of the overall Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. It is an outdoor spectacular held on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne and is designed to showcase Victorian food, wine and produce interests to consumers, industry and media.

EMT participated in this exciting opportunity last year in partnership with several regional producers and the response was very encouraging. As such, we will be participating in this show again in 2012.

We now seek final expressions of interest from EMT members wishing to join with EMT and participate in this opportunity.

Australian Bridal Expo

EMT attended the Australian Bridal Exhibition on the 20th and 21st of August at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne.

The show was well attended and demand for Echuca product was strong. There was considerable interest in potential Echuca Moama wedding venues and honeymoon packages.

This is a worthwhile initiative and one that we will be repeating in order to continue building and developing this very important market.

Visitors Guide.

The OVG is the definitive guide for visitors to the region. Produced every 18 months, the OVG is the primary media tool used by Echuca Moama Tourism, Tourism Victoria, Tourism NSW and Murray Regional Tourism when promoting the region domestically and internationally.

As part of our Level 1 Accreditation status, our OVG is placed in Visitor Information Centres throughout Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Furthermore, EMT distributes our OVG at all Consumer and Trade Shows we attend including, Melbourne Caravan & Camping Show, Adelaide Caravan & Camping Show and the Australian Bridal Exhibition.

The OVG is designed to provide the visitor with a snap shot of our destination profiling our region, history, accommodation, attractions, hospitality, retail offerings, events & festivals and sporting facilities. The ultimate objective is to motivate the reader to visit Echuca Moama.

Over 50,000 copies will be produced and to comply with VTICs new guidelines, the 2012/2013 Echuca Moama OVG will be created in A5 format. It will also be available for downloading from the Echuca Moama website.

Ambassador Volunteers wanted

The Echuca Moama Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is looking for local residents who have a passion for our area and are interested in sharing their enthusiasm with visitors to our region. 

 Volunteers will be given training, which will include visiting the area’s attractions to experience for themselves what is available.

Our Ambassador Team is a fun and enthusiastic group who always welcome new faces to the team, so if you can spare at least 4 hours a week we would love to hear from you.

EMT Public Meeting

On 24 May, EMT called a public meeting to inform all members and the community at large about the dire financial position we were facing. All attendees were advised that an immediate cash injection was required to ‘keep EMT afloat’ until 30 June. The response to our plea was overwhelming and enough money was raised within one week from this meeting to ensure EMT remained a going concern.

The majority of these funds were raised by existing members. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your enormous generosity and support as we focus on building a viable and sustainable business model from 1 July.

It was also encouraging to receive financial support from non-members who now recognise the importance of what EMT delivers to our community.
The new membership prospectus will be distributed at the end of this week. Membership will be for a six month period only for 2 main reasons –

1.     EMT is working with Tourism Vic, Tourism NSW, Shire of
        Campaspe and Murray Shire to create a new strategic
        marketing plan for our region. Our goal is to engage a
        consultant over the next few weeks so that a 3 year
        marketing strategy and new membership program can roll
        out as of 1 January; and

2.     Our members have been asking us for a number of years
        to move renewal dates away from the new financial year
        in order to assist with better cash flow.

Echuca Moama Wedding Expo

Echuca-Moama hosted the annual Wedding Expo on Sunday 22nd May 2011 at the Fonterra Centre. The expo provided a wonderful opportunity for prospective bride and grooms to see a range of wedding service providers all under the one roof. A high light were the two fashion parades of wedding outfits. The Echuca Moama Tourism Stand received many enquiries on accommodation for wedding guests.

WTC Irrigation Expo

EMT attended the Irrigation Expo at the Echuca Racecourse on May 18th & 19th. The expo was an initiative of the Goulburn- Murray Water Technology Cluster and is a partnership between regionally focused organisations, irrigators and local government, who collaborate to improve efficient use of water. The event showcased industry innovation and was an opportunity to showcase our region and interact with customers. We look forward to attending next year.

Travel Xpo

Last fortnight we attended Travel Xpo at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne.

The primary marketing tool was the holiday planner guide and the brochures from the businesses who partnered up with Echuca Moama Tourism.

The show offered both international and domestic tourism product with several RTA's in attendance.
The show generated great interest and we managed to distribute approximately 1,000 brochures.

Fishing Monthly Advertising Opportunity

Echuca Moama Tourism has assisted in creating an advertising opportunity for members to participate in a comprehensive feature in the well known and nationally distributed Fishing Monthly Magazines.
 
The special supplement will feature the fishing aspects of the region, along with family activities and accommodation to create interest within this large consumer sector.

Tourism Minister Visit

The Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, The Hon Louise Asher MP, visited Echuca on Tuesday the 29th of March.

The primary purpose of her visit was to get the message out there that Echuca is open for business.

Having the Minister here recognized the importance that Echuca plays in the State tourism market and assisted greatly in highlighting the region in the lead up to Easter.

Travel Xpo

Last fortnight we attended Travel Xpo at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne.

The primary marketing tool was the holiday planner guide and the brochures from the businesses who partnered up with Echuca Moama Tourism.

The show offered both international and domestic tourism product with several RTA's in attendance.
The show generated great interest and we managed to distribute approximately 1,000 brochures.

Tourism Minister Visit

The Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, The Hon Louise Asher MP, visited Echuca on Tuesday the 29th of March.

The primary purpose of her visit was to get the message out there that Echuca is open for business.

Having the Minister here recognized the importance that Echuca plays in the State tourism market and assisted greatly in highlighting the region in the lead up to Easter.

The 2011 Club Marine Southern 80 will be held in just 2 ½ weeks.

With a significantly broader entertainment offering this year which includes freestyle moto x exhibitions and aerobatics performed by RAAF, we anticipate crowd numbers to up substantially at the Finish Line precinct (Victoria Park).
